If you receive an Error 2004 in Lightroom this is related to trying to directly access the plugin without an external editor, which cannot be done.  

The Topaz plugins require the free external editor Fusion Express 2 in order to be accessed in each host program (our stand-alone program photoFXlab can be used in Fusion Express 2's place).

If you have configured Fusion Express 2 and are still receiving this message, then you will want to check that the full path of the image you are trying to edit does not have any non-English characters.

 Unaccepted Characters

  • ž, ź, ż, ć, ç, č, ñ, ń, ł, ,ß, ś, š, à, á, â, ä, æ, ã, å, ā, è, é, ê, ë, ē, ė, ę, ÿ, û, ü, ù, ú, ū, î, ï, í, ī, į, ì, ô, ö, ò, ó, œ, oø, ō, õ, etc
  • א, בּגּדּה, etc
  • C:\Users\John\Fotôs\Image-ç-001.jpg
  • /Pictures/ה/Image001.tif
