Fixing Error LOADING or RUNNING Model in Topaz Photo
This guide will help you troubleshoot these 2 different errors:
- Error Loading Model
- Error Running Model
These errors can be caused by:
- Missing or corrupted model - which can be resolved
- or an outdated graphic card driver (Windows only) which can be updated
- or it can be an incompatible machine that falls under the app's minimum requirements
STEP 1: Verify System Requirements
To troubleshoot this error, please first check that your computer meets the system requirements for Topaz Photo:
If your System meets the minimum requirements for the app, you can skip to Step 2 below.
If your computer graphics card does not meet the system requirements, it would not be a supported machine. The only workaround for underpowered machines is:
-
Open Topaz Photo and click the Processor menu to try the CPU option (in Edit menu*, Preferences, General, AI Processor). Using CPU can be a workaround, however CPU does not replace VRAM and processing on CPU can we slow, will have limitations and issues. Any isssues that remain would not be supported on an underpowered machine.

Systems that do not meet the minimum requirements are not supported for the app. Underpowered machines will have issues such as: slow processing, problems updating, export failures, crashes, or inconsistent behavior across versions. These types of issues cannot be resolved until the app is used on a supported machine. For more information, please refer to the "FAQ questions section > What if I am under minimum requirements?" which includes steps to gather the necessary files so our team can review and determine if any workarounds may be possible.
STEP 2: Troubleshooting steps
